3 Short FPV FunJet Flights

I just compiled this video from my three latest FunJet FPV flights.

I love flying FPV with the FunJet. It makes me try new stuff.

Book reviews

RCadvisor_MadeEasy
A while back I got the two RCadvisor's books in the mail.

I enjoyed reading them both. Carlos's writing style is quite excellent which made them easy to read.

To keep the book reviews separated from the other reviews I decided to make a sub category in the review section called RC Book reviews. There you can find the reviews of RCadvisor's "Model Airplane Design made Easy" and "ModiFly". At the end of each review, you can find links to the other book reviews (ok, only one other so far), so as to make it easier to find them.

Hobbymässan 2009

Yesterday I went to a hobby trade fair in Stockholm here in Sweden. It was a 4 and half hours drive from where I live, and I had never been to the "Hobbymässan" but from what I could gather from the information on the internet, it seemed to be a quite large event. Even Multiplex was going to be there and show up their new "Xeno" flying wing. Unfortunately the day didn't turn out as I expected.

New guide; Improve your video goggles

I was fed up with my uncomfortable video goggles so I decided to do something about it. With the sacrificing of a pair of ski goggles I made them very comfortable and now they block out the sun better than ever before.

I am extremely happy with the results!

New review; GlobeFlight pan/tilt

I know it was a long time ago that I won the pan/tilt system from GlobeFlight, but I finnaly got everything togheter and made the review of it. The review can also be found on my parter site FPV-Community.com, which helped to make this review possible.

When testing the pan/tilt system I made a video:

There are a few close misses when I'm flying toghether with my friend Christian's Easystar, that made my adrenaline pump a little extra

  • I added a FPV Videos page, which has an embedded player with all my FPV videos in chronological order.
  • I also optimized some code to make the homepage a little faster

The FPV FunJet maiden!

I’m proud to present the FPV FunJet:
FJFPV1
It weighs in at 680 grams and it’s equipped with the new camera and a 300mW 1.3GHz transmitter.

Here is a link to more pictures and info

This is the video from the maiden flight

This was the best FPV flight I have ever done! I had such a blast. I love the FunJet as an FPV platform. It’s so stable in the wind and very agile. I can promise more videos now that I have a functioning FPV airplane

New camera

Since the tragic death of my old faithful KX-171 which has been with me since my start in FPV, I’ve been looking around for a new small camera to put on my new FunJet. Well, now I have found a camera.
COcam1
I found this camera in a local electronics shop and decided to test it out.
It’s has quite a bit larger footprint that the KX-171 and it’s a lot heavier due to the thick solid metal case.
After testing it extensively, I found it to be quite excellent picture vice, so I decided to modify it!

I started out by removing the heavy metal case...

Show #6 - MiniMag maiden

Click here to watch in 1280*720

In this episode I make the maiden flight of the newly built Multiplex MiniMag. This plane is almost stall-proof! It may not be the funniest to watch but it sure is a blast to fly. In the end of the video I mount the water pontoons and take it for a short flight on water.

A short 1080p FPV clip

I was testing the disassembled Camileo P10 HD camera in a FPV flight, unfortunately it was an extremely windy day which lead to a very bouncy flight. I made a short clip (49 seconds) from the flight which is in its original size and quality (1080p). The clip is about 49Mb and can be downloaded here

Disassembling the Camileo P10 HD camera

I have done a step by step disassembling guide of the Toshiba Camileo P10 HD camera that I intent to use for FPV flying. My goal was to shed some weight and get a good look at the connector between the main PCB and the sensor PCB. The final goal being world domination... No I mean a being able to pan/tilt only the sensor by adding a ribbon cable of some sort.

How much weight do you think I saved?

The complete guide to getting started in FPV!

At last, it is done... The guide to getting started in FPV! This was by far the hardest guide for me to write. How deep should I go, what is relevant? After many, many hours of hard work and tears I finally have a guide that I think will be appreciated by many.

This guide gives a in depths knowledge of the basic FPV components as well as gives a taste of the more advanced gear. Read it and write what you think!

Finally a new HD camera

Nearly 2 months ago I got myself a Aiptek AHD300 camera that I had planned to modify for FPV flying. But it turned out that the webshop I bought it from had printed that it could do 720p in 60FPS, but it turned out it couldn’t.
So I sent it back, to buy a cheaper cam with almost the same specs. But why have it taken such a long time to get the new camera?
