ModeratorA pity that RCSchim did not know what he had in his proximity when he met David…

ParticipantWell it looks pretty compact, he did say he had made 14 revisions to it !
Hope to see it in full on rc exp soon?Wonder how he got on against all those quads ?

ParticipantNice to get a sneek peak at it, it’s a whole lot more compact than my mini ๐ but I’m only on revision 2

ModeratorFrom what I can see, the current revision (14?) is fairly modular.
To build it, you would need:
Naze32 Tricopter frame (with PDB)
Blue Bird โ BMS-210DMH Servo
Tricopter Tilt Mechanism (Injection moulded top piece)
2x 10x10mm Woven Carbon fiber arm (to cut in half)
2x Circle motor mount
Front Spacer
Non slip Battery velcro strap
Zip-ties
Tricopter Screw pack
25mW Vtx
Cloverleaf antenna
CCD board camera (32x32mm)
Side panels (1.5mm black G10?)
6x 40mm spacers
(What looks to be) 3x DYS BE1806-13 2300Kv motors?
6×3″ props?I can’t make out the receiver or where it is placed ๐
Better to wait for the complete kit! ๐

ParticipantWhy does he says he from Flite Test ?
Old habits maybe.

ParticipantIt looks really cool ๐ I wonder what those ESCs are, they look so small !
22 June, 2015 at 19:00 #16374donnyb
ParticipantI think David and flitetest really compliment each other.
22 June, 2015 at 21:00 #16379Terje
ModeratorThe ESC run DYS BE1806 on a 4S battery, probably running BLHeli 13.2 with OneShot125 (judging from the flitetest interview). The DYS BE1806 will draw approx. 10A at full throttle on a static stand running a 5×3″ prop. David seems to be running 6×3″ or 6045 and with a failure margin, my best bet would be a 18A Kiss ESC ๐
22 June, 2015 at 21:29 #16380Chadwick
ParticipantCould be DYS BL16 or BL20 esc’s they are really small also. The motors are a spitting image of my DYS 1806’s on my mini so I would agree that’s prabably what they are.

Moderator@Chadwick the DYS BL16 or BL20 ESCs are a very likely match as well, thanks ๐

Participantokay thanks ! ๐

Participantlooks great
anyone knows if and when it will be available – that’s just what I am looking for.
I already started to plan one on my own , but if this is made available, with the famous quality of RCE – I would certainly wan’t to put my hands on one23 June, 2015 at 08:38 #16393Terje
ModeratorDo what I do: Build your own, tune it, tweak it, rebuild it – then buy the kit when it is ready and tested and really appreciate the quality and thought that has gone into designing it ๐

ParticipantDo you guys have any idea why @David is not using 2204/2206 motors on this one? With 6″ props and 4S battery I would expect much better performance from 2204, than from 1806…
23 June, 2015 at 23:47 #16415Terje
ModeratorIt is a cheap alternative. Sure @David could be running 2204 Cobra motors, but that would not be in the spirit of doing more with less ๐ in the end it is up to eveybody to choose the motors they prefer. I kind of like that David is not making his designs dependent on the most expensive parts ๐
