ParticipantHey guys love the site!I’ve been a huge fan lately of flight tested and I was intrigued about tricopters a few years ago. Fast forward few years later (2016) I bought a package of broken drone parts locally in hopes to build a decent drone or just something to mess around with as I love to tinker and build. The package included 1 walkera rodeo 110 with devo 7, (was pretty rough and got it to fly for a little bit but hardly and crashed mutiple times myself) 1 devo F12e, with a bad video receiver 1-complete but totally frame damaged walkera Tali h500 with FCS-h500 FC, 1- 95% complete voyager 3 with trashed body and a bad arm with damaged motor frame. 1-totally trashed qx350 (not the pro) rough fc with 3 good motors and 4 good esc’s. I’ve tried listing the parts for sale and simply for trade for more mainstream custom build FPV parts but its been about a year and no luck. So I found inspiration in This awesome tricopter project. My main questions are would these motors be any good for the simple frame for the larger tricopter? the voyager and tali are larger motors with lower kv 500kv and 380kv, not sure about the qx350 may be littler closer to the 1k kv. So maybe use the esc’s and a simmple f4 controller? any help would be appreciated. these parts have sat for far too long and I’d love to use them for something

ModeratorWhile anything is possible, please realize that Tricopters are especially sensitive and temperamental beasts. Motors that dont spin true will 100% show in how smooth your build flies. Furthermoore Tricopters require more love and maintenance that a comparable Quadcopter. Considering how your last build went, maybe its advisable to take a step back and reevaluate things before you commit to a complex project like a Tricopter.

ParticipantNot sure what is meant by ” how your last build went”. I bought these parts as a package deal already crashed, I didnt know I needed to list a last build if so I ordered parts and successfully built the peon 220 from thingy verse. But I get it tricopter is only for elitist I guess.
