Found the problem…
ESC was faulty.
Unfortunately, the tail motor just smoke-checked itself. (it’s very hot to the touch) Closed out the video just before the motor died. Had I kept the video rolling 5 more seconds I’d of captured it.

We, received both the ESC and the motor today, swapping both out for the faulty ones. Motor test and spin direction performed perfectly.
Soon we will program the Taranis and then match the Betaflight software to the channels / functions set.

Everything is programed and ready to go!
Setting everything up for the test flight / tail-tune tomorrow morning. If all goes well, I should be able to make a video via the mobile display.

However I did notice that the rear motor is delayed spinning up:
It’s like the rear motor comes on after the forward motors are already spun up. Which makes it feel as if its about to flip end over end. Not sure why this is happening but the tri did fly fine once i restarted a few times to ensure that the motors had spun up.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

You probably need to calibrate the ESC endpoints. Make sure you REMOVE YOUR PROPS before calibrating.
Connect tri via USB cable to your computer and start BetaFlight Configurator.
Go to the motors tab.
click the “I understand what I’m doing” switch to allow the motors to spin.
Raise the “Master” slider to the top.
Plug in the main battery.
The motors should do an extended series of beeps longer than the normal ones when you plug the battery in.
After the beeps stop, Move the “Master” slider all the way down.
The motors will do another series of beeps.
After those beeps stop, you can test if the motors start spinning at the same time with the “Master” slider.

Can you post a “diff” from CLI? Maybe the motor idle speed needs to be bumped up a bit.

Received the new camera, landing gear, and noise filtering capacitors (330uf, low esr). Everything installed and tests out 100% on the bench. If all goes well will give it a go within the hour.
Note: caps were installed on the input power leads to the ESC’s as the noise spike from the motors made the video from the last camera garbage.
