Spent a good deal of time today getting my RCExplorer fleet ready for Flite Fest next week.
Baby Tri 1 (right) Baby PDB/ F3FC Racing – dRonin/TriFlight 2205 2480kv
Baby Tri 2 (left) Baby PDB/ F3FC Racing – dRonin/TriFlight 2207 2450kv
Mini Tri 1 (top) AirDTF DTFc F3 FC/PDB – dRonin/Triflight F40 2300kv
Mini Tri 2 (Bottom) AirDTF Seppuku F4 FC/OSD – dRonin/Triflight F80 pro 1900kv
Mini Tri #2 is a monster beast on 6S and smooth as silk. Need to finish getting FPV on it, cuz it is WAY too fast to fly LOS. Hovers at 9% throttle. 50% throttle makes it disappear into the sky instantaneously.
Cheers!

Have you flown the 550 yet?
Nice set of copters!
7 July, 2018 at 01:21 #58216Kevin_ErikModeratorI’m curious to see what David will say if he shows. Just thinking it would be nice to know what direction Tri’s will move in and if the hardware is going to get an upgrade.
7 July, 2018 at 05:03 #58218LitterBugParticipant@madpoet, I haven’t done anything with the HobbyKing Y-3 550ish build in a while. I’m taking all the parts with me to Flite Fest in case I have time to work on it there. Could have it flying LOS with minimal amount of effort. Not going to fly it under too risky of conditions since it was a hard to get, discontinued frame. Probably take it to the far end of the flite line. Don’t know if you have seen the Flight Line @ Flite Fest, But it is some crazy chaotic fun. Especially during the combat sessions with literally 100s of planes and flying things in the air at the same time!

Just curious how much noise your seeing on each axis and what values you selected for each. Here’s my last Autotune, though be it a very noisy one.

11 August, 2018 at 21:18 #58714LitterBugParticipantMy baby tri graphs are unbelievably smooth with the F3FC. These are the graphs I got from my mass tune back in July. FWIW, your graphs though noisier than mine, do not look that bad.

MT1 = DTFc FC icm-20608
MT2 = Seppuku FC Bosch BMI160The F3FC builds with the MPU6000 are MUCH cleaner. All four of the FCs are soft mounted.
Cheers!

11 August, 2018 at 22:33 #58728Kevin_ErikModeratorWhat gets me about it all, is not really knowing what’s supposed to be an acceptable noise level for the Yaw. The other Axis are somewhat self explanatory as they tend to track the anticipated values but Yaw seams to have a mind of its own.
The Speed Test is pretty easy to get a Baseline for as all you have to do is remove the Tilt-Mech and allow the Servo to run freely. This will give you its max unrestricted value. Run this 3-4 times and take the average as it returns slightly different values with each run. Next redo the above with the Tilt-Mech attached to see what your losses are. With an ideal setup your Tilt-Mech should read very close to the Servo’s “free” values.
Side note: Just changed out my Impossible Tilt Mechanism (ITM) as I had a spare on hand. Recently saw that the old ITM had a slight warp in it from the bent screw.
12 August, 2018 at 01:23 #58729LitterBugParticipantThe yaw on a quad tracks much closer to anticipated than the slow servo on a tri. If you compare my BT1yaw vs BT2Yaw, you might be able to tell which one has the faster servo.
12 August, 2018 at 01:55 #58730Kevin_ErikModeratorWhat Servo you using currently?
I see a speed rating of “275” for David’s Servo @ 6v and that’s without the Tilt mech installed.
