    Hi there,
first of all, I love tricopters, I mean, I love everything that flies, I fly planes and multi-rotors, LOS and FPV, I do scratch builds in foam or balsa, and I build all my crafts, but I have a sweet spot for tricopters…
I started in the multirotor world by building the first Tricopter following Davids first wooden version, using a multiwii board, with DT750 motors, flashing ESCs the old way with weird tools and flashing points… really fun. Back then I despised quadcopters, tris were the real thing, with a more natural plane-like flight.
Since then I have build other copters, including a TBS Discovery with DJI Naza v2 controler and GS (expensive!) and going into racing quads, zmr250s, robocat270, and all kinds of FC (Naze, SP RacingF3, Motolab…). But in between I kept building tricopters, and supporting David by buying his full V3 and then the MiniTRi.
After a couple of years, Im settling for racing quads, and so far the Alien5″ with motolab Tornado FC is by far the most sturdy, stable, fast and locked frame. I´m not a really good pilot, but this quad makes me feel like a pro, really forgiving and always ready. I even hesitate to make any changes or upgrades (BLheli, cleanflight…) since it flies soooo good for the last 6 months. I only have to mount new props every now and then (actually with the new PC props, not so often anymore!).
Since months, I have been trying to set up the MiniTRi to fly as good as the Alien5!, tried and failed. Don´t take me wrong, if flies great really, fast and really agile, and I have a blast flying it every time…but no, it´s not as fast and locked as the Alien, of course, the main issue is the Yaw, even with the triflight 0.5, feedback servo, etc, it still drifts…
Now my question, is it really possible to configure the MiniTri to fly as good as the Alien5″ or am I pushing the physics too much? should I give up and accept that it will never be as locked as the Alien?

Ps. I attach a comparison of the two quads, is there anything I could do with the hardware or software to make it better???

@villalji I have a Martian 5″ frame setup exactly as my MiniTri and BabyTri:

    5040 triblades
    Emax RS2205 2300Kv motors
    F3FC/Integrated frame
    BabyPDB
    LittleBee 30A ESCs
    X4R receiver running S.BUS
    1300/1400/1800 mAh 4S 65C Lipos

I have not succeeded in getting the tris to be as locked in as the Martian frame. The yaw will always get in the way. Also, Airmode does not seem to work that well on a tri. Physics dictate that the tail rotor produces thrust to counter the rotational forces of the rear motor since it has no counterpart to do that (like a quad has).
