I have a weird thing happening on my quad. It has 4 absolutely identical afro ESCs with Simon K firmware. I have calibrated all of these with MultiWii controller, but have never reflashed any of them. One of the 4 motors on my quad stops almost instantly when the throttle is cut and the others keep spinning for a while. I’ve tried spinning the motors by hand and they feel the same. Motors are cheap noname 1806 from banggood, but as I said, they feel the same. Any ideas why that might happen?

If the same motor still will not keep spinning, there is a mechanical fail, probably too tight preassure on the ball bearings or broken ball bearings. If it improves whithout the ESCs connected, then the ESC is braking the motor, which could indicate that the ESC in question has “regenerative braking” activated in the firmware.

if you shouldfind that the one that stops faster has a higher resistance this means either a production flow or moror sustained to much damage.possibly due to heat.3 July, 2015 at 02:00 #16774LeoTheHumanParticipantGood idea, I’ll check the resistance next time I have to take the heat-shrink off the ESCs on that quad. That motor works well, apart from the slow start issue. I’ve managed to crash it today and slightly damage other motor. That is actually my training quad I don’t mind destroying completely, so I will fly it until it doesn’t fly any more and try to fly a bit more afterwards. The only thing on that craft I care about is a d4r-ii receiver, which I hope to salvage when the rest dies. (: But it will be interesting to see how that motor will compare to others in resistance. Might actually test it with different ESC some day.
