Are there any plans for the quadrone so that I can make my own?

    Cheers,

In this post http://rcexplorer.se/blog/2012/07/quadrone-kits David tells us that Quadrone plans will be available soon, so keep waiting.

I was soo willing to build my own one, therefore decided to draw my own model in SolidWorks from the pictures David provided in the Quadrone post 🙂 http://rcexplorer.se/projects/2012/05/the-quadrone/

There are so many differences in my quad’s construction that I would say it’s another platform, but I like the folding arm part and that is David’s invention.
The main advantage of this construction is its portability. I can easily transport my quad in a backpack and travel around by bike, it’s quite awesome.

That’s a really cool way of folding a quadcopter

Yepp, it’s truly portable. You get 660 mm diagonally from motor to motor while folded it’s about the size of a Phantom – some 400mm.

The only significant disadvantage right now is an overall weight because of 3mm plywood and aluminum booms. Should switch to GF/CF to solve this.

I would say it’s worth to build this frame only if you really have need to be able to carry your quad in a backpack. Otherwise a folding H-quad frame would be better choice due to its simplicity.
