Hi i am in the process of programming my tricopter v3.5 with naze. i know thsi is kind of outdated but i cant find anything about my problem.
Okay, when i straighten out the reciever values and make sure they are centered and stuff, the tail motor begins to run. and it only responds to the yaw on my transmitter. if i push the stick to the right at all the motor stops completely. but if i move the stick to the left the motor speeds up. i honestly have no idea whats going on and what is causing this issue.any help at all would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance31 October, 2016 at 00:59 #34447billydParticipantSounds like you have the tail esc plugged into the wrong place.
31 October, 2016 at 03:51 #34451Flying_FlynnParticipantthat exactly what was wrong
thanks so much.31 October, 2016 at 04:03 #34453Flying_FlynnParticipantbut know the funny thing is the servo does not move at ll. no response
31 October, 2016 at 04:49 #34454billydParticipantServo is probably plugged in the wrong spot too. Follow the videos carefully.
1 November, 2016 at 23:17 #34488Flying_FlynnParticipantthe servo wire is plugged correctly. but im starting to think that its possible that when i soldered on the wire extension that two wires got swapped. is there a way to test that without totally pulling apart my tri?
2 November, 2016 at 00:29 #34491billydParticipantJust pull the servo connector off the pin header and try to drive the servo with a servo tester. Or if you don’t have one use a spare receiver.
2 November, 2016 at 03:12 #34493Flying_FlynnParticipantokay thanks. i will try that
2 November, 2016 at 14:13 #34496Flying_FlynnParticipantokay so the servo works as it is i tested it with an extra receiver that i had. but when i plug it back in the correct spot on the board, it still doesn’t work. I’m still in the programming part of the build. but now in the receiver tab in cleanflight it doesn’t show the live receiver values. everything is right i have the correct rx connection type and everything, but it just randomly will quit on me.
I’ve been trying to get this thing flying for nearly a year now and ive had tons and tons of trouble the whole way. i am nearly to the point of putting the whole thing back in the box and shipping it back to Sweden.
my tri has been taken apart and put back together about 5 times now, and have had as many successful flights before something fails everytime. ive had to already order a new board, but even then it still didnt work.
2 November, 2016 at 14:24 #34497billydParticipantI had a tricopter like that as well. It was cursed. I finally gave up on the naze board and got the F3FC and that fixed it. Mine would just randomly drop out of the air with the Naze.
Although after getting rid of the naze, I had a weird glitch in the F3FC board, when the throttle got to 25% the arming switch would reverse and turn off the motors! Crazy. Something in the firmware. I accidently fixed it by switching from ppm input to SBUS input and then back to ppm. The problem just went away. I don’t really understand to this day what was wrong. But now the F3FC works flawlessly. Hobby grade electronics, what can you do? But that tricopter was cursed. Took me a year to get it right as well. I have a mini and a baby tri from David that never had a problem. So it’s just bad luck.
Some of those Naze boards were defective I believe although I can’t prove it. It’s also possible a trace got damaged during soldering.
I know you’ve already thrown a lot of money at it but my advice is to switch to the F3FC board it is much better.
2 November, 2016 at 14:34 #34498billydParticipantI have found that sometimes the live receiver values won’t show up right away if you make an input change.
I’ve had to completely power down the tri and disconnect it from the computer. Also good idea to restart cleanflight. Then the live tab will work unless you have a different problem.
Also the receiver won’t get powered up by the usb connection you have to connect the main lipo.
2 November, 2016 at 16:16 #34502Flying_FlynnParticipantIm almost starting to think that i will need to buy a new board. but i have already sunk nearly $400 into this thing. i dont want to put another $50 if i cant get it to fly with the naze. this is my second multirotor build, and its been impossible. but i want a tri. i built a small racing size one for cheap two summers ago and got one flight before it fried itself for no reason. but that was the best flight of my life. the feel of the yaw was like nothing if ever flown, it was amazing and ive been wanting to get that again. but its been so hard with this build. it kind of ticks me off how davids video makes it look so easy to assmeble and program. but ive had nothing but trouble.
2 November, 2016 at 18:10 #34508billydParticipantThey usually are trouble free. But I do think there was the occasional bad Naze board. I experienced it myself.
There’s a lot that can go wrong here. Some could be user error or soldering. Or it could be hardware related. No way to know since everyone’s experience level is a little different. If you aren’t well versed in building this stuff it’s certainly easy to overlook something.
2 November, 2016 at 19:28 #34510GAntonjoModerator@flying_flynn: Hmmm… This seems strange. Can you take good pictures of your connections, and if possible also upload CLI dump and Backup file from CleanFlight Configurator? Sometimes pictures tell more than thousand words, you know.
Also, please tell us which transmitter and receiver you are using and in which mode you have it connected to the NAZE32 Frame.
2 November, 2016 at 21:30 #34512Flying_FlynnParticipantokay, i will have to get pictures in a bit. but i am using the spektrum DX8 with a hobbyking orange rx reciever that is 6 channel. i am also using the parallel pwm connection for the rx.
i do have a spektrum 8 channel rx that i could use but i dont know how to bind it and stuff.
