Yeah, man, I’ve got spares. I *do* have an EVO, which has SmartAudio 2.1 (latest protocol, which is apparently different enough that it doesn’t work with BetaFlight yet). I think it’s the only VTx I have that’s got it. I’m hesitant to part with it but if I can’t find anything else that has 2.1 I might send it anyway since it’s just sitting in the package at the moment (it’s going in the Tricopter if I can’t get 1.3 to work reliably with the GPS). Either way, I’ll send you something Tuesday when the post office reopens.
27 May, 2019 at 09:36 #62090TimParticipantThank you @swissfreek and @jihlein for the clarifications about the LIS3MDL. The Drotek GPS arrived today. Seems like a nice unit but I can confirm, that it doesnt’t come with a magnetometer in this size. I told the company about it and they immediately corrected their website and offered me a refund. Decided to keep it and get a seperate HMC5983 Breakout.
27 May, 2019 at 15:40 #62092billydParticipantHi swissfreak I don’t think that’s the file. It’s a .dmg file? Not sure what kind of file that is. And has “macos” in the file name.
I’ll need the windows installer or a zip or rar file.
27 May, 2019 at 16:20 #62094swissfreekParticipantOh my bad. He initially posted a link to the windows installer by mistake. Then he posted the MAC installer, which is what I needed. I didn’t realize he corrected the original link. He’ll need to post the latest windows build then.
27 May, 2019 at 17:00 #62095billydParticipantThat’s what I figured. I guess I can’t use the original hex and dfu he posted as I’m assuming there were problems with those?
How dare jihlein take a vacation! 😉
Maybe I’ll just load up the stock tricopter firmware for dronin and ignore inav and my gps/mag components until the inav capable stuff is available.
27 May, 2019 at 17:45 #62096swissfreekParticipantSadly with dRonin the GCS has to match the hex. Just get a Mac! :-p
I’m pretty sure the January build he posted in the dRonin thread works fine. He’s just been working on adding features like the OSD menus, but it should fly better than a stock dRonin build at least. But maybe I’m wrong on that.
27 May, 2019 at 21:35 #62097billydParticipantI can flash to the tri dronin firmware but after that the driver is not loading properly to connect after the flash. If I go back to the original kakute firmware for betaflight it connects fine (in betaflight). Not sure what I have to do to get it to connect properly after loading the trironin firmware to it. It connects and disconnects repeatedly and dronin doesn’t recognize the hardware. With the betaflight firmware everything works fine in betaflight so I think the hardware is fine. Some sort of driver issue.
30 May, 2019 at 00:28 #62131MDantonioParticipantWhere do I obtain the hex file for the KakuteF4V2? New board.
30 May, 2019 at 00:44 #62136swissfreekParticipantFor iNav or dRonin (I apologize, it’s probably my fault that this thread mixes the two)?
For iNav, @jihlein posted a hex on post #61602 in this thread. I can confirm that it flies alright on the Tricopter LR as-is, though the tail of course needs significant tuning (or you have to fly around the issue) in order to calm it down, since it doesn’t have any of the “special sauce” that @lauka put in Triflight or @jihlein put in Trironin (and probably never will unless someone else is eager to pick up the torch on it).
For dRonin, the latest build is linked on the first post here: https://rcexplorer.se/forums/topic/dronin-for-tricopters-trironin/ There’s Windows and Mac versions; if you’re on Linux you need to build your own from @jihlein’s repo, but if you’re on Linux that’s also probably something you’re pretty comfortable doing. That flies quite nicely and @jihlein has some new features coming shortly that will bring it more in line with contemporary BetaFlight and iNav “creature comforts” such as OSD menus and SmartAudio support.
30 May, 2019 at 00:56 #62139MDantonioParticipantI have the dRonin installed, I’m trying to connect the board to Betaflight in bootloader mode and it’s not connecting. Also, is triflight in the Betaflight FW tab?
30 May, 2019 at 01:00 #62140MDantonioParticipantCan I use Zadig to boot the board up and load the Triflight hex file instead of going into betaflight?
30 May, 2019 at 01:01 #62141swissfreekParticipantSo you have the GCS installed on the computer, and you pulled the firmware for it per David’s video but when you plug it in with the button pushed it doesn’t show up in DFU mode in the Betaflight configurator? If you’re on windows then I suspect it’s the Zadig driver issue. I believe if you’ve never installed dRonin firmware on it, you shouldn’t have to force it into DFU mode, but I could be wrong on that. Once you flash dRonin if you want to use Betaflight to flash future firmwares, then you definitely will need to start in DFU mode.
No, if you want the optimized tricopter firmwares, whether iNav, Betaflight, or dRonin, you will not be using any of the “standard” hex files in any of those firmware’s menus. You will need to get the provided files from in these forums.
30 May, 2019 at 01:03 #62142swissfreekParticipantI’m a Mac user, so I don’t have to mess with Zadig. I wasn’t aware you could flash firmware with it? I thought it was just something you used to enable the serial port and then you installed firmware through the various configurators.
30 May, 2019 at 01:06 #62143MDantonioParticipantI can’t find the dRonin SW hex file folder, when I downloaded the dRonin there is no SW file folder in the download only the installer. (Win7)
30 May, 2019 at 01:16 #62144MDantonioParticipantWhere do I get the latest Triflight FW for the KakuteF4V2 so I can run dRonin?
