Sorry I didn’t mean to say the tricopter wasn’t flying excellent as well; I was just referring to the hick up of arming the motors.
I have 2 RC Explorer tri-copters and 3 racedrones all running on Cleanflight. With the exception of the Tricopter they all fly excellent so therefore I feel reluctant to swap…..
I have no idea what Betaflight would bring me, however no need to convince me that there are advantages 🙂
I’ll try Betaflight for my next copter

I am referring to David’s vid of the Cleanflight set up @ 17:02 where he is showing how to set up the arming mode
I increased the window of the arming in the mode tab so that the area is now from 1800 till 2050 .
I still have the problem that I have to unplug and connect a couple of times until I hear the ESC tunes.
But once those beeps are heard, the motors now always start to spin when I hit Aux 1 arming channel.
The problem of the FC not starting up time time after time was explained to me by David. Can’t find the answer back.

I had the same problem with the motors not arming and tail servo not responding. Have a look at my thread # 36677.
So what I do is I connect the flight battery, disconnect and quickly connect again. Sometimes I need to do this a couple of times.

I have been browsing through all the Tri 4 threads as well as a major part of all other related items on the RC Explorer forum and I have tried a couple of remedials I picked up.
Amonst them were deactivating the V measuring and re calibrating the accelerometer.
None of them helped.
However at some stage I just let the blue leds blinkering and the beeping going on
Then suddenly when I was no longer expecting anything to happen the blinkering and beeping stopped, the ESC sounds were heard and the FC board was working fine. (solid green LED).
So the booting process of the controller takes extremely long but after cutting power supply and quickly re connecting the battery the booting takes only a couple of seconds and the ESC are almost instanteneously activated. So all I have to do is have some more patience compared to my other flight controllers and flybarless systems I am using…
But I really haven’t got a clue why it works like this; to me case is closed.
In the meantime maidenflight (hovering only) has taken place without any problems.
Stupid question: did all of those computers have the same (windows) system installed?
In case affirmative I would suggest to use a pc with different win system. That is how I finally could connect the F3FC board
Saturday I tried my good old pc on Windows 7.
Guess what? the board connected immediately 🙂
Anyway, thanks for the tip.
Problem solved now, and firmware flashed, however now I cannot get the board connected to Cleanflight. I keep getting the message “Failed to open serial port”.

I am also having my finger on the trigger, however I never buy things on back order. The mini Tri has been on back order for a coupe of weeks now. Does somebody know when the next batch becomes available? what is holding up?
