I should be able to help you here.

I had a dodgy servo on the back and after a crash I lost the BEC on another ESC (no idea how). Basically you need one BEC to power the KK and another to power the servo.

I tried bridging the BEC to the second power pin but the quad could not til and power the motors, it was funny to watch the thing have a seizure but reasonable flying was not a possibility.

In short, get a dedicated BEC with about 1A output or get 3 Afro 20As

Yep, I had the same issue, I have lost 2 ESC (one was mostly due to shit soldering).

I have been thinking of buying the DYS SN 30A ESCs and placeing them inside the frame where I don’t have to worry about breaking them.

@Ian If you get the new PDB you can just get the 5v BEC on it. Since I already have BECs on my ESCs I soldered a 12v regulator on mine to power a board cam and my old FatShark tx which cant take 4s.

That said, if I could go back I would have got the slim ESCs, they look much better and I lost an ESC due to 2am soldering ruining the servo cable input to the ESC.

What I am wondering if the DYS SN 30A would fit inside the booms or inside the frame.

Yeah, while in the long run it could be for the best but it is hard to really find the money to spend when the Velleman will be enough.

I think I will go with the Velleman VTSSC40N. I found it for a good price here http://www.amazon.co.uk/PROFESSIONAL-DISPLAY-SOLDERING-IRON-STATION/dp/B003DH5N2M/ref=pd_sim_sbs_diy_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1VTBPW4DPHP0W019EHXP . However, I don’t see the brand name on it while it looks identical. Do you think it could be a rip-off?

I was looking at that one Terje but then I watched this video where it is compared to a 30 year old Hakko

Seems to be a huge difference but it is still very good value.

Ok, that makes sense. Would you say 700KV + a 12×5 prop with a 5000mAh battery to carry a gimbal with a GoPro.

As for my wiring mess I had an idea to cut a hole in the middle and put this HK PDB in which should make for exceptionally neat wiring. I can’t wait to share the results of this and some other sneaky ideas 🙂

One thing I am wondering is the value of CF props over their cheap plastic counter-parts, am I okay to run it with the crappy HK props for a while or would I be putting my copter under risk?

I guess that makes sense, I may try adding another layer to the middle for the ESCs, I don’t like the idea of them sitting there.

Another question: what would be the advantages of a lower KV + larger prop compared to a higher KV + smaller prop?

With my build I am aiming for a smooth flier and wind resistant flier for a longer flight time over acrobatics and speed.

    Sorry for the simple questions.

    Hey LarsA

May I ask how long you get out of that Lipo with the 750Kv motors.
