It’s odd because it centers fine most of the time, but then sometimes when I’m flying it will start rolling to one side or the other. Probably can adjust it with the GUI to have a stronger counteraction to outside forces as it seems when I’m doing a longer turn it does it. Will see.
I imagine everything is setup for the weight of the alloy gimbal and switching to carbon throws it all off. I’m sure it could be sorted, but it’s beyond me how to do it lol
Tiernan85ParticipantHere’s another video I did the other day. Still using the cheap gimbal. I noticed and it’s visible in some the shots that the gimbal would stay rolled partially to one side. Not really sure why..
Tiernan85ParticipantGreat video. You’ve got some really stable shots there!
Here’s another I did the other day. This is using the cheap goodluckbuy gimbal
Tiernan85ParticipantIt was definitely the positive lead that got warm. I know this because even the boom had become a bit warm. And there was also a small amount of smoke from flux residue where I soldered to the board.
I don’t doubt that there’s possibly some damage. But I still think the smoke was from the flux residue heating up. I had checked the entire board and none of the components had burn or excessive heat marks. I’ve still to do the full test with the prop on and I will run it down to my normal cutoff range to ensure it doesn’t prematurely fail. And obviously once the replacement has arrived it will be swapped out.
If it does end in a crash. I’ll be sure it’s recorded 😀
Tiernan85ParticipantDefinitely a good idea.
Tiernan85ParticipantAppreciate the feedback.
Spares are a necessity yes, don’t know why I didn’t have one kicking around already. They’re on order now.
Well I have refitted it already. I’ve bench tested a pack through it on full power. This was with no load on the motor though. The esc did not get any warmer than normal(which is hardly at all). I will also bench test it with a prop on to give it a load and see how it fares.
If that is ok, I will take the chance it’s ok and fly it. Once the new esc arrives I will still replace it. Here’s to hoping I don’t regret it!
Tiernan85ParticipantI personally charge in the car quite often. I have an adapter that plugs into the car lighter and I can plug the charger power leads into that(similar to the one below). If you just be safe with what you’re doing, you shouldn’t have a problem.

Tiernan85ParticipantThat’s really unfortunate!! I also am scared to fly over water for that very reason. Also curious if you know what happened? Low battery, Lost signal etc
Tiernan85ParticipantI finally received my bearings in the post today. Installed them in the two offending motors and it has made a world of a difference! Everything is so quiet now. So I will in time still get better motors but for now I’m happy with the inexpensive fix.
Tiernan85ParticipantYes I’m quite happy overall with the footage and what the gimbal did. I already want a lighter one, and a 3 axis gimbal version, and a dedicated machine just for the gimbal haha.
Tiernan85ParticipantThat’s a nice and tidy setup. There’s a thread similar to this at the following link. Definitely post it up!
Tiernan85ParticipantI recalibrated all the esc’s through the kk mini as opposed to having done each one individually prior to that. Mine climbs nicely now on full throttle. Also ensure that you have your cog set on the tricopter.

The same thank you goes out to all of the other people that helped bring these awesome ideas to reality! Keep it up folks 🙂
