Tiernan85Participant
Well done on the new tilt mechanism. You too Terje. Don’t need one, fingers crossed stays that way.
I actually really liked the metal lock nuts. I was trying to source a decent amount to keep stock but couldn’t find them unless I wanted like 10,000!! So if you have an abundance of them, perhaps I’ll buy some next time I make an order.
Tiernan85ParticipantI’m using the 30’s also. I initially had the same question. I was told the same as above so Robert is correct though and you’ll be fine. Had a good few flights on mine now with out any problems.
Tiernan85ParticipantOuch! Although your breakage list doesn’t sound too bad for what seemed a pretty hard impact.
Well, it wasn’t the first crash and definitely won’t be the last!
Tiernan85ParticipantGood vids! Nice little area with the first one, and all the cars in the second was great. I’d be nervous myself. I was flying over a small pond today and was nervous I’d screw something up and have my tricopter go swimming. But all was well.
Tiernan85ParticipantWell done, really enjoyed that. Nice scenery and I like how you slowed down the footage a bit.
Tiernan85ParticipantNice job Terje, those parts look spot on!
Tiernan85ParticipantThanks David, this is Ireland and I do agree it’s a lovely country. Part of the reason I wanted to start FPV was to view Ireland from a different perspective. I really look forward to increasing my abilities(and confidence) and seeing lots of different places(more interesting than fields lol) around here from these new angles!
Tiernan85ParticipantThis is my first ever FPV flight.
I’ve only flown the tricopter twice before this and have very limited experience flying anything other than a plane. This is a fairly “boring” flight, but its a start just looking around getting familiar with the goggles and I’m looking forward to getting more into this!!
Tiernan85ParticipantGood stuff. I have similar tool coming like what you bought. Should be here this week and I can get my firmware updated then. Thanks for the info 🙂
Tiernan85ParticipantI initially had the same issues and couldn’t get my booms to stay in place very well. For me, it was simple enough to fix. All I had to do was tighten the one screw that went through the boom so that it started having some resistance when trying to move it. One this was done I could then tighten the “tensioner” screw until I was happy with how it stayed in place. Now it works just as David intended. Maybe yours needs the same. Prior to that I also dremeled two slots into the frame to fit some zipties. Yea you gotta cut them if you want to fold it but they’re a fraction of a penny. I dont actually use them now that I figured out how to set it up propery. Here’s some pics of what I did initially.

Tiernan85ParticipantSorry about your crash!
So these things will do flips without having to set anything up particularly to do them? I was under the impression that when I go a certain direction that the FC only allows me to travel so far? Ie. get to a certain angle when moving forward, backwards etc. Or are the flips only done by manipulating the FC with the throttle etc? I just don’t want to get caught out the same if I get a bit more aggressive with my flying. And we all know that’s going to happen!! 😀
Tiernan85ParticipantWould using something like Corrosion-X not be better than liquid tape? I would just assume that the liquid tape would hold in heat. And corrosion-x is available in Europe 😉
Tiernan85ParticipantOh, I also think a CNC aluminum tilt mechanism would be good. I’ve had no problem with mine, but it would be the one part I would change to aluminum if anything.
Tiernan85ParticipantFor the most part everything is great! It all works as intended.
The main thing I would consider doing, but this would possibly increase production costs/time slightly, is to chamfer the edges of the frame. Currently they are very sharp. Looks great, but any accidental snag of motor/servo/esc wires generally results in an exposed wire. Chamfered edges would eliminate that.
Tiernan85ParticipantThanks fellas. Yep that link works, coolblaze19. I’m assuming that since my linked usbasp device has the 6 pin adapter, it will work. I’ll get it and go from there. Good info and additional links there.
