  • A trip to the local hobby-shop

Today I took a trip to the local hobby-shop that is located about 30 kilometers from my home. I bought a 11*7 prop and some balsa. The Turnigy C3530-1100 on 3sA123 only gave me 168W with the 11*7 which was a lot less than I expected considering that the 10*5 gave me 140W. I’ll give it a try and see how it feels in the air.

In the meantime; Care to guess what I’m going to do with these balsa sticks?

  • Yet another FPV CRASH!

Something went wrong and it ended in tragedy.

  • First flights of the Twinboom Easystar

Finally the Twin Boom EZ* got of the ground and in to the air!

One bummer is that the motor only puts out 140W on the 10*5 prop and 3sA123.
I will try another prop the next time. Maybe a 11*7?

  • Testing out the GPS

I tested out the Eagletree GPS and it works excellent.
I tried to gain some altitude with my FPV Easystar and I got up to 945 meters before it was time to land. I have it setup so that the place of the “Sat” switches between the number of satellites and the mAh drawn every 5 seconds.

The video and RC link worked without a hitch, but I did not pushed it today. 2300 m from home at 200 m above ground was the most I pushed it.

This year I have so far a tad more than 4 hours and 20 minutes of FPV airtime. I rely hope the weather changes for the better so I can get more hours and so I can take the Twin Boom Easystar for a maiden flight.

It’s drawing to an end, the epic build of the Twin Boom Easystar.

  • The secret project begins

Today it begins; The secret project. In this experiment I’m going to try to get an Easystar that don’t look nor fly like an ordinary, everyday Easystar.
I’ll try to push the envelope and expand my horizons to speak.

To do that I’ll need carbon fiber, glue, a new motor and a different propeller.

  • The Eagletree GPS has arrived!

Finally after a very long time I finally got a hold of a Eagletree GPS.

It works flawlessly in the live mode of the Eagletree software now I just have to find a good place to mount it on the plane and start fooling around with what should be displayed on the OSD.
