This weekend I attended the Elefantastiskt RC event in Karlsborg here in Sweden. The field at where it’s held was pretty huge and it had a nice big runway. Since this was a two day event there were a camping area at one end of the field, here the two vendors that turned up also had their stands. The weather on Saturday was extremely windy with a few raindrops here and there. This was unfortunate as this was the day that most visitors came to watch the flying and the noon demo. Since it was so windy there weren’t that many planes in the air and the noon demo was made difficult.
I brought the Twin-Star and the Blizzard on the Saturday and I flew both in the wind. A lot of people were interested in my planes and I got to meet a lot of new great people. A few even recognized me from my youtube-show, which was cool.
The weather on the Sunday was better, the wind had subsided a bit and there were a lot fewer clouds. On this day I brought the FPV gear and the EZ-Stick as well as the Twin-Star and the Blizzard. There were a lot fewer people on the second day, but I found this to my liking. I had such a great time! The mood was more relaxed and I met even more great people.
I saw that one guy had converted a Multiplex Fox to a RC glider and he was tossing it into the wind above a tent, trying to ride the upstream. He could only get a circuit on etch trow so I asked him if he wanted help getting up to altitude. He was all for it, so we strapped the Fox to the bomb drop device on the EZ-Stick and threw it up into the air:
It worked really well! The people that watched seamed to be entertained as well. To bad that the wife was home sick or she could have filmed it. The Fox was awesome and now I feel the urge to buy one and convert myself (but it may be hard to control both airplanes at the same time my self).
One of the highlights of the noon demo in my opinion was this 42% scale Extra 260 which looked and flew great.
This guy was a skilled 3D flyer as well as nice guy to talk to.
I also made a FPV flight on the Sunday. Whilst I was FPV:ing a Fun-Jet was screaming over the field at 130 km/h which was pretty awesome to see from the air. After the flight a lot of people wanted to know more about FPV flying so I let them try the glasses on and we spent over an hour talking. It was nice getting that much attention. This was really good day of RC flying. I will definitely attend next years Elefantastiskt.
