Last time I was in the US I convinced Chad to take me to the Niagara falls. It was a 5 hour drive from the Flitetest base, which I didn’t think was too bad. Chads wife Julee and son Christian accompanied us when we set out at around 9am. We made pretty good time and arrived at the falls at around 3.30pm. Jumping out of the car I was hit by the most chilling wind I have ever felt. It cut like a knife through clothes and chilled you instantly. And on top of that, it was super strong. The FPV Manuals Tricopter build log is moving along at a steady pace.

My friend Tim Nilson, the owner of fpvmanuals.com, has created a tricopter kit based on my design.

He sent me a kit to try out. Here is the first part of the build log

Another chat has passed. The turnout this time was a lot more manageable. Around 20 people turned up an I felt I could keep up with the questions. A big thanks to all that took the time to chat and I hope in return that you all got answers to the questions you had.

Bad news. The logo I named as the winner of the competition turned out to bee very like that of Urbandrones. Therefore I cannot use it, and I’ll have to think whether to name another winner or not, or perhaps hold a new competition. I have yet not decided what to do.

I want to clarify that Fabio, the creator of the logo, has not stolen the idea. He is indeed the creator of the design with the airplane in the logo, something that Urbandrones also says. Unfortunately, there are different opinions between Fabio and Urbandrones as to whether the logo was created for Urbandrones or RCExplorer and whether Fabio or Urbandrones owns the rights to the design. I will not take any side in this conflict, as I can have no idea which of them is telling the truth, or if they have just misunderstood each other and are both telling their truths. Of course, I hope that there has just been a misunderstanding and that they’ll work it out, but for my part, I won’t use the logo.

I’ll get back to you all with my decision on what to do about a new logo now, as soon as I’ve made up my mind.

With just over 200 excellent entries (estimated a little low last time), It has not been a quick nor easy task to choose the winner.

But after much deliberation, I’m now proud to announce the new logo of RCExplorer! I feel that the new logo is elegant, timeless and clever.

Unfortunately the video footage I had of the Y6 flying in the US is lost. Neither me, nor Chad that shot the footage can find it. So here is the next best thing, a video I shot of the Y6 hovering in GPS mode with my Iphone just before I left for the US:

The competition is now over!

The competition is now over my friends. Over 140 different logo designs were submitted! A big thank you to all that took the time to enter the competition. I will post the best designs here on the blog in a short while to get your input, before I make my final decision on the winner. The winner will be announced on or before January the 25th. Stay tuned!

A while back I got a new logo. Unfortunately most people didn’t like it, and to be honest not even I do any more. I tried to come up with a new one but so far I’ve been unable to. It’s time to admit defeat. I need your help!

The person that makes the best logo will win either a receiver ready Tricopter V2.5 or the MiniQuad, the winner get to choose!

All you have to do is use those gray brain-cells, draw a logo and send it in!
