-:RCExplorer:- No idea π I was hoping for a smaller turnout but this is a little less than I expected π
-:RCExplorer:- Hi Colorex!
-:guest:- Not sure but this is my first time on here, its quite hard to get the timing right I think
-:RCExplorer:- Yes indeed hectic π
-:RCExplorer:- Lots to do as usuall
-:Klonas:- Any thought on what you will do about the logo ?
-:guest:- Yes, I’m sure thats is what everyone is wondering…
-:RCExplorer:- I’m going to go back and look through all entries again and see it again with fresh eyes
-:colorex:- Hey David, I got an idea of making a tricopter out of economic parts, “EconoCopter” using HXT 24gram motors… what do you think? is it worth it, or should I pitch in the extra cost of your design?
-:Klonas:- @colorex Let’s go call all the flitetest forums to here π

-:Klonas:- Yup those 24g are good I have one on my trainer plane
-:RCExplorer:- Colorex: Planes and multirotors have different needs though. What kV are they?
-:colorex:- available from 1300 – 3000
-:colorex:- 400g+ thrust
-:RCExplorer:- Even 1300 is a bit high
-:Simon:- the 24g are quite magnetically coggy and make a pretty loud whirry sound..might be a bit annoying for multicopter
-:RCExplorer:- Wouldnt be as efficent but it would probably work
-:colorex:- oh… Well, I’d just go with the awesome v2.5 design
-:colorex:- OH! Any word on the new V3.0 HKKKboard?
-:guest:- Considering the traffic en05-phx.stablehost.com gets I think the website could do with a revamp. I guess its ok as it is for finding info but could look a lot better.
-:RCExplorer:- I can recommend the V2 build motors, I like them a lot as well and they are cheaper π
-:AZPilot:- David how did you like the WooKong Autopilot on the Y6?
-:RCExplorer:- Working on it guest π
-:RCExplorer:- AZPilot: It was pretty darn awesome π It really did fly it self
-:RCExplorer:- Really stable and easy to setup as well
-:AZPilot:- Going to use it on your next project?
-:RCExplorer:- The MK was a nightmare to setup in comparison
-:AZPilot:- I guess that comes with the price
-:Guille:- Hi David, regarding the tricopter template I noticed the arms arent 120 degrees evenly separated. Is that for any purpose? Im trying to build one but had modified slightly the templates to make all rotors in the same circle and 120 degrees separated…
-:guest:- So you prefer DJI over MK?
* valg (89.160.149.120) has joined #RCExplorer Live Chat
-:RCExplorer:- Next up will be a tricopter build, but the one after that, yes π
-:comster:- Love your write ups — thanks for the chat!
-:AZPilot:- Do you have any more videos in the pipeline?
-:colorex:- What about the new V3 KKboard from HobbyKing?
-:RCExplorer:- Guille: It’s not terrible important but it’s good if it is 120 degrees. I’ll upload new templates in the near future. Dont have any CAD software any more :/
-:RCExplorer:- Guest: By far yes
-:Guille:- Cool.. Sketchup did help me a lot.. awesome program π
-:comster:- Did you ever use ESCs flashed to update faster? Β Wondering how big a difference it makes
-:Simon:- I just did Β a frame outline in Eagle.. it works π
-:AZPilot:- Need a good free cad program?
-:RCExplorer:- comster: Thans man π
-:RCExplorer:- Colorex: Works well. It’s just the same as the other boards. Just a new processor.
-:guest:- I have MK electronics I guess there ok but I have had a lot of trouble with it and when you see the horror stories on forums with MK dropping out of the sky it doesnt give you a whole lot of confidence. I have considered getting DJI electronics but its a huge burn for my wallet.
-:RCExplorer:- Guille: Haven’t used sketchup that much. Takes time to learn π
-:colorex:- is it worth the extra investment? maybe for future updates that won’t fit on the V2?
-:Klonas:- Could a quadcopter lift a normal camera ok? Because I might want to build one for aerial photography but don’t want to buy a gopro
-:valg:- when do we se a helical cp tutorial ?
-:colorex:- @klonas depend’s on your camera
-:RCExplorer:- comster: Yes I have. But the hassle of updating wasn’t really worth the work
-:RCExplorer:- guest: Yeah it’s not cheap. I’ve heard a lot of stories about DJI systems falling out of the sky as well. No system is perfect
-:Klonas:- I should probably weight it π
-:AZPilot:- David try out this one…. Β http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/free-cad/index.php?title=Main_Page
-:RCExplorer:- Colorex: Yeah go with it. It’s the same price isn’t it?
-:colorex:- nope
-:RCExplorer:- Klonas: Sure it can as long as you build one big enough π
-:colorex:- it’s 8 bucks more (with buddy codes)
-:comster:- RCExplorer: cool, good to know.
-:RCExplorer:- valg: It’s on the list. I just wish I had more time
-:RCExplorer:- AZPilot: Has to be mac friendly π
-:AZPilot:- it is
-:Guille:- Sketchup from google is awesome really very easy to learn and sharing files is extreamly easy and supported by google. Unfortunatelly not open source but its a fully functional free version available..
-:RCExplorer:- Azpilot: Nice π
-:AZPilot:- windows
-:AZPilot:- and freeeeeeeeeeee
-:RCExplorer:- Colorex: Then I personally would go with the V2 board
-:colorex:- KKboard prices V2: $15.00 (12.50) V3: $20.00 (19.50)
-:colorex:- ok! sure thing, I’ll do that?
-:colorex:- Ill do that!
-:RCExplorer:- π
-:Simon:- colorex: there is no code currently anywhere near big enough to need the V3
-:comster:- Guille: I like sketchup but disklike you need Wine to run on Linux. Β File formats are limited for free version, but there is a free dxf export plugin…
-:RCExplorer:- Is there a plugin for generating G-code?
-:colorex:- Why use the v2 motors instead of the v2.5? The V2.5 motors have more lift…
-:AZPilot:- free cad runs on Linux as well
-:RCExplorer:- Colorex: They are cheaper and lighter. If you don’t need to lift any exta and are on a tight budget, they are quite nice
-:Guille:- comster: yes u’re right that is the drawback…
-:guest:- Rcexplorer could you tell me why you prefer DJI over MK? Is it just because its easier to setup or is it reliability?
-:AZPilot:- I’ll see if I can find one
-:RCExplorer:- guest: Mainly the ease of setup, both on the hardware and software side. The support is also much better. Realibility is proably the same with to well setup systems
-:colorex:- Well… I’d rather like to have extra power… it’s just $12 extra I think…

-:RCExplorer:- It is pretty budget as it is?
-:AZPilot:- David it looks like it has a Cam Module
-:RCExplorer:- Nice π
-:RCExplorer:- Interesting
-:Simon:- it already has one less motor than a quad, sheesh
-:Simon:- π
-:RCExplorer:- But a servo instead π
-:colorex:- not the $20 servo!
-:colorex:- with not so good ratings!
-:Guille:- Other question: in the yaw mechanism for the tri, Have you ever experimented with a “deflector” instead of moving the engine, redirect the air, so by reaction you would get a yaw movement…. would that work? I saw you made some strange cokpit and tail for one tri, I guess to make it easy to see and fly.. a deflector would look simmilar …
-:colorex:- guille: I thought about that too…
-:colorex:- thrust vectoring
-:Klonas:- David, what’s your favorite airplane?
-:RCExplorer:- I’ve seen it but only flying in low vind conditions. It would not work well in high winds, I don’t think
-:RCExplorer:- Colorex: The servo is awesome π I’ve bought around 50-60 of them and all have been perfect
-:Simon:- wow, you must have quite a stockpile
-:valg:- 60 :O
-:RCExplorer:- Klonas: The funjet i think
-:RCExplorer:- Simon: Just build a few tricopters π
-:colorex:- oh… well… that servo… It’s four hours of work for me…
-:RCExplorer:- And used them in planes
-:RCExplorer:- That is pretty harsh
-:valg:- david do you fly any fpv planes anymore?
-:RCExplorer:- I never had one failed though. Even after the toughest crashes
-:colorex:- any cheap alternatives XD?
-:colorex:- or should I heed your advice?
-:RCExplorer:- vlag: I do. There will be a couple of buildthreads coming out in the future π
-:comster:- I used a different HK servo because the canonical one was on backorder so long. Β Just a little smaller and I’m happy with it.
-:RCExplorer:- colorex: I have yet to find a cheaper servo that lasts
-:Klonas:- Oh yeah, why those servos have so much bad reviews?
-:comster:- Mine used TGY-2216MG… Still too early to say how it lasts, I guess

-:Simon:- but can you lift it all with a Y6?
-:colorex:- 60 x $20 is already 1200
-:Klonas:- what did you buy? 5 Tricopters? π
-:comster:- I cringed at the Y6/Spitfire lift video….
-:RCExplorer:- Haha π
-:valg:- 4cell?
-:RCExplorer:- It was so ridicilusly dangerus π
-:comster:- Sorry, dude, all your other stuff is golden
-:colorex:- I’m expecting HobbyKing Β to massproduce an easy to use yaw mechanism
-:Simon:- comster: I know..those looked like apc props, too, which I _always_ cut my hands on..

-:bob:- yup, v2.5

-:Klonas:- @RCE so you’re saying there is a way to skip frames in a youtube video?
-:RCExplorer:- Damage: Looks nice π
-:Simon:- I made a tiny arm length version of the Delrin Tricopter kit. It actually flies almost the same (I keep forgetting that stick scaling limits roll/pitch rate, not arm length), except that once the props get so close, the yawing effect is stronger, and the yaw motor has to be quite tilted to hover. This makes the whole platform tilt the other way to stop drifting against the yaw cancellation
-:bob:- actually u can set up a branch show of flitetest in sweden

Hi all iam new here and iam not sure if this is the right place to ask these question,
I HAVE JUST FINISHED A TRICOPTER,IT IS THE hOBBYKING C3 Y 3 Fiberglass one ,I have never build a tricopter before useing the KK 2.15 Hard case flight control board.
in a nut shell I followed the settings that David had on his video on setting up his tricopter, but as it turned out when I first tried to fly it ,the copter wanted to spin to the left at about 3 inches off the ground,I went into the kk 2 board again to check my setting that I took of the video!and all looked right.
when I first started the moters I tried the stick movements on the Tx forward back left right it all seemed fine on that score!I calibrated the 30amp turnigy Plush escs and iam sure I did everting I was supose to do ,But I must have missed somthing ?
tp recap! all moters start at the same time and onec it gets to about 3 inches of the ground it wants to spine violently to th left? any HELP or susjestions would great.
Thanks in advance.
