  • New camera

Since the tragic death of my old faithful KX-171 which has been with me since my start in FPV, I’ve been looking around for a new small camera to put on my new FunJet. Well, now I have found a camera.

I found this camera in a local electronics shop and decided to test it out.
It’s has quite a bit larger footprint that the KX-171 and it’s a lot heavier due to the thick solid metal case.
After testing it extensively, I found it to be quite excellent picture vice, so I decided to modify it!

I started out by removing the heavy metal case. (more…)

  • Show #6 – MiniMag maiden

In this episode I make the maiden flight of the newly built Multiplex MiniMag. This plane is almost stall-proof! It may not be the funniest to watch but it sure is a blast to fly. In the end of the video I mount the water pontoons and take it for a short flight on water.

  • Multiplex MiniMag build log

The Multiplex MiniMag is ready for its maiden flight.

I made a build log that contains 38 pictures that covers the entire build. I hope to be able to do the maiden flight soon.

  • A short 1080p FPV clip

I was testing the disassembled Camileo P10 HD camera in a FPV flight, unfortunately it was an extremely windy day which lead to a very bouncy flight. I made a short clip (49 seconds) from the flight which is in its original size and quality (1080p). The clip is about 49Mb and can be downloaded here

  • Disassembling the Camileo P10 HD camera

I have done a step by step disassembling guide of the Toshiba Camileo P10 HD camera that I intent to use for FPV flying. My goal was to shed some weight and get a good look at the connector between the main PCB and the sensor PCB. The final goal being world domination… No I mean a being able to pan/tilt only the sensor by adding a ribbon cable of some sort.

How much weight do you think I saved?

  • The complete guide to getting started in FPV!

At last, it is done… The guide to getting started in FPV! This was by far the hardest guide for me to write. How deep should I go, what is relevant? After many, many hours of hard work and tears I finally have a guide that I think will be appreciated by many.

This guide gives a in depths knowledge of the basic FPV components as well as gives a taste of the more advanced gear. Read it and write what you think!

  • Finally a new HD camera

Nearly 2 months ago I got myself a Aiptek AHD300 camera that I had planned to modify for FPV flying. But it turned out that the webshop I bought it from had printed that it could do 720p in 60FPS, but it turned out it couldn’t.
So I sent it back, to buy a cheaper cam with almost the same specs. But why have it taken such a long time to get the new camera?

  • The Thrust stand

In my quest towards getting better efficiency and more performance and flighttime out of my power systems , I decided to build a “Thrust stand”.

This is a great tool for comparing different props, motors, batteries, ESC’s separately but also as complete power systems.

  • Show #5 – Building a FunJet in 3 minutes

The beginning of this episode is a time-laps build of the FunJet. I think it turned out pretty cool. After that follows the maiden flight, which went great without any crashes.

    Motor: Warp 4 3-turn 2580kV
    ESC: Mystery 40A
    Battery: 3s OEM 25-35C 2200mAh LiPo
    Servos: 2 x Hitec HS-65HB
    Prop: 6*4/5.5*4.5/5.25*4.75

    All up weight: 575 grams

  • The two new airplanes has arrived!

These are the two airplanes I bought, the FunJet and the MiniMag with floats! One fast and one slow, one aerobatic and one gentle. I think this they both will contribute greatly to my growing fleet of airplanes. I will start of building the FunJet first and it will happen soon. Stay tuned!
